The world has been in the pandemic mode for a year and a half. The virus continues to spread at a slow burn; intermittent lockdowns are the new normal. An approved vaccine offers six months of protection, but international deal-making has slowed its distribution. An estimated 250 million people have been infected worldwide, and 1.75 million are dead.
COVID-19 is creating new needs while putting enormous financial pressure on all especially daily wages. From medical and public health needs related to the response to economic uncertainty impacting vulnerable populations, the COVID-19 pandemic is creating unmet needs above and beyond the usual.
“HPC Foundation” had been working from the very beginning of the pandemic to stand by the people in distress. Towards the end of March and in April of 2020, food packages were distributed to the poor working people where total of 500 families were brought under this food package. Essential food items including rice, pulses, oil, onions, potatoes, salt, and sugar were in the food package.
In 2020 Aastha Foundation also worked for medical professionals who supported patients during the pandemic by accepting all risks.
In this year 2021, during the second wave of the covid-19 Pandemic Aastha Foundation again planned and distributed a regular food Package for patient families of Aastha Center living in the Rayer Bazar slum area. This food donation program was conducted on April 2021’. Patients and their family members were so grateful after receiving this food package. Their smiling faces told us what this support meant to them.
The Committee of HPC Foundation will continue this type of donation in the future according to the arising situation.
